5 of 5 Spray Cleaner works fine but you could just use Ac July 24, 2015
Reviewer: Chris C.
EC-1 spray cleaner works fine to clean the dirty spots on my RV's roof. It contains Heptane & Acetone (I assume both are the solvents) and Carbon Dioxide (probably the propellant). For less cost, you can purchase a container of Acetone from Wal-Mart or Home-Depot, Lowes, Menards, etc. Caution: Acetone is a very strong cleaner, and may NOT be compatible with some surfaces. For Example my RV's roof is made by Alpha Systems (Royal Roof) and Alpha recommends NEVER using Acetone on their roof material.

I used both the EternaClean EC1 spray cleaner and some Acetone soaked on a freshly washed white rag to clean just the dirty Dicor Lap Sealant at the joint between rubber roof and front end cap of my RV. I didn't let the cleaner/acetone sit on the rubber roof but wiped it immediately with my cloth rag. It still removed the paint from the plastic cap covering the joint (no big deal to me since I was about to cover the joint & cap with the 4" Eternabond tape), but be careful with either the EC-1 or any other cleaner / solvent you use. Test it on an inconspicuous area first or call the company to verify it is OK to use. I generally use the weakest cleaner first and only try a harsher/stronger cleaner when it is taking too long or too much effort to get the surface clean. I use water & a sponge, or water & soap & a rag first, then go up to isopropyl alcohol on cotton balls, and then mineral spirits or turpentine (smelly, but not derived from petroleum so I assume it is ok to use on my EPDM rubber roof) and then Acetone if nothing else is working.

Note: since I just installed the Eternabond tape I don't know yet which above item is best to use for surface prep. Mostly, I used 91% isopropyl alcohol or just plain water & elbow grease to clean surface of majority of dirt, and then final cleaning with the EC-1 spray cleaner.

Good Luck!

4 of 5 Works well, but it does April 12, 2015

Works well, but it does contain Heptane and Acetone, so check your roof material owners manual to make sure your membrane is compatible with these chemicals. It turned out mine isn't.
